Becoming Captain America After Surgery – Part 9
Published by Mike Leng on June 21st, 2012
Hey Guys,
Really quick update as there isn’t much to report.
Been back to the Docs and everything is well past where it’s supposed to be. No sling, no physio, no pain of any sort. However the Doc still won’t let me back training for 6 weeks. I’m sensing that this is just a standard response but then again, I’m not a Doctor so I’ll go with what the dude in the white coat says.
I have been cleared to now run a few times a week so that will help things ticking over. Think the dog will be glad to be out running again more than me lol. Stretching and foam rolling will aggressively continue so things are as healthy as possible.
As far as nutrition goes I’ll be upping my carbs a little and decreasing my fats on running days and adding some protein to help up my overall calories. I’ll also be adding in some BCAA’s to help prevent muscle breakdown. Nothing major as I’m not really challenging anything to need to help me recover to a higher degree. Goals for the next 6 weeks is to drop about 5-8 pounds to lean up a little so insulin sensitivity is improved for when I start jacking up macros for adding muscle.
Couple of random thoughts,
People need to stop sweating the really small stuff in nutrition. That diet coke won’t kill you.
Every single person would benefit from being outside more, stretch and take vitamin D.
I don’t care what Dave in the gym told you, results are everything.
Everyone keep saying that strength doesn’t matter in the cage or on the mat. If you have two guys that are of a similar skill level and one dead lifts 200kg and one 100g, someone is getting their arm taken home.
There is no better breakfast than eggs.
Over all, plans need to be simple as possible and FUN. If people hate it, they won’t do it.
Have fun kids
Mike
