Bobby Brents continued his incredible run last night as the uncompromising heavyweight made it nine wins in his last ten fights with a first round submission of Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt Rogent Lloret.

Lloret, an ADCC qualifier and Bellator veteran, seemed uncomfortable with the aggressive style of the rotund heavyweight who mixed up powerful takedowns with looping hooks effectively.

In the end it was a thudding right hand that deposited the Spaniard on the canvas and Brents quickly seized the initiative with relentless ground and pound.

The Spaniard seemed to have his hands full with the onslaught of strikes but was doing just about enough to survive, however, he hadn’t bargained for a submission assault from Brents.

One deft arm triangle later and Lloret was left with no choice but to tap as the seconds ticked away in the opening round.

American Top Team’s James Reese put on a seemingly effortless wrestling clinic against local favourite Brad Wheeler as the decorated grappler outscored the Brit on all three cards.

Wheeler began the fight in ferocious fashion as he charged forward with strikes, but this played straight into the hands of his opponent as the wrestler shot perfectly underneath his advancing foe to score an easy takedown.
The wrestling differential became the story of the fight as Reese, expertly coached by Brad Pickett and Ashleigh Grimshaw, took his foe down at will over three workman-like rounds to earn the nod.

Chris Fields and Jack Mason was the sole match up in the Cage Warriors middleweight tournament as the withdrawal of Tony Machado granted John Phillips a bye to the semi finals.

Mason, the shorter fighter, needed to solve the riddle of the range early but it was Fields who came out firing and landed sharp leg kicks whilst circling well.

The bout was less than one minute old when Fields flicked a kick up high that caught Mason flush and sent his foe straight to the canvas. The Irishman showed perfect killer instinct in this situation and landed hammerfists to force a well timed stoppage as Mason stumbled back to his feet.

John Phillips, in attendance, took to the cage and announced his intentions of knocking all his opponents out in the first round. The hard hitting Welshman will get the chance to let his fists do the talking on April 12th in Saudi Arabia when the tournament continues.

Fellow SBG Ireland product Conor McGregor made very short work of Steve O’Keefe in a little less than two minutes after a pressure display from the opening bell. O’Keefe never got accustomed to the relentless pace of his foe who took the bout with vicious elbows in the first round after a frantic initial salvo of punches.

The Iron Giant Dave Keeley survived an early scare on the canvas from Eddy Bengtsson as the Swede locked in a tight keylock but was unable to complete the technique. Keeley scrambled out from underneath and soon landed a huge elbow as his opponent shot in for a takedown. Bengtsson crumbled from the strikes and an elated Keeley took home a great win.

Brett Sizeland took out Brett Bassett in the second round of a back and forth encounter due to doctor’s stoppage.

Sizeland landed an inoffensive looking elbow whilst against the cage that caused the cut which bled profusely and quickly covered Bassett in a crimson mask.

The doctor cleared Bassett initially but in the second round it was obvious the cut was bleeding too severely and Sizeland took the win to move to 5-1 overall.

Shah Hussain rallied late to try and get the win against Jacek Toczydlowski but was unable to finish his fatiguing opponent and came to regret his performance in the earlier rounds as the powerful Polish fighter landed takedowns at will to earn the decision.

Charlie Watts took out Chad Brown with elbows from the top after a staccato display of striking in the first round, and Ben Hajir came from behind on the scorecards to pull out a buzzer beater armbar with less than two minutes left in the third round.

The amateur portion of the card kicked off the evening as Luke Killick showed a great chin to come back against Artur Dudek. The Polish fighter landed a huge shot early on but Killick hung tough and eventually took the fight in the second when he took control on the ground.

Olly Battell stopped Thomas Martin on the feet after an entertaining tilt ended with a looping hook and some well placed ground and pound.
