Shinya Aoki is a Japanese graplling phenom that made his name fighting in Shooto, Pride and now Dream. He holds black belts in Judo and BJJ.

He is famed for his wide array of grappling attacks and flamboyant submissions including two rarely-seen gogoplata victories.

He is also recognised for his controverial 'tights' that he wears to fight in; which many claim improve his ability to maintain a good guard and control opponents with his legs.

His best wins have come over Eddie Alvarez, Gesias Calvancante, Joachim Hansen and Caol Uno.
