Biography

Frankie Edgar is a UFC lightweight fighting out of Toms River, New Jersey and Hamilton, New Jersey with Ricardo Almeida.

He is a good wrestler with a purple belt in BJJ. He has shown major improvements in his boxing since he started in the UFC also, training with Mark Henry.

His most notables wins came over Tyson Griffin and Sean Sherk and, after several good performances, "The Answer" was given a chance to fight BJ Penn for the lightweight championship at UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi. Edgar boxed his way to a victory to become the champion after five rounds of fighting but Penn was offered an immediate rematch at UFC 118. In the second encounter, Edgar won in much more convincing fashion over the allotted time, taking 50-45 on all of the judges' scorecards.
