The Fairtex Gym and Cesar Gracie trained lightweight has won the WEC lightweight title, Strikeforce lightweight title and Strikeforce interim lightweight title - the latter of which he currently still holds.

He has fought for numerous organisations: Shooto, WEC, Pride, Strikeforce and more in his professional career which started in 2002.

His most notable wins come over Rumina Sato, Clay Guida, Tatsuya Kawajiri and Mitsuhiro Ishida and he is widely expected to face Josh Thomson in a rematch to unify the Strikeforce lightweight titles.
