Made 4 The Cage promote a huge fight card at the Rainton Meadows Arena in the North East of England this weekend, with international stars and top domestic fighters in action. There are three titles on the line, and no shortage of talent contesting for them.

Ferryhill man Kyle Redfearn (5-3) meets undefeated Craig Turner (5-0) for the British welterweight title and, although Turner is without defeat so far in his career, Redfearn is confident he can take the scalp and the championship gold at the weekend.

“His undefeated record does not faze me one bit, it just spurs me on to achieve my goal of winning the title,” Redfearn told YourMMA.tv in the run up to the bout. “I’m just going out there to do what I do best: win.”

Despite being a pro for just two years, Redfearn has already taken on some of the toughest guys on the circuit, including Rob Mills and Matt Inman. In a time when many fighters avoid dangerous fights for as long as possible, Redfearn’s willingness to step up to the plate has meant he has some losses, but great experience for it.

Turner has bested tough UK journeyman Shaun Lomas twice and North East veteran Leslee Ojugbana so he’s also been in rough spots and Redfearn respects this, but that doesn’t mean to say he doesn’t believe his own experience will pull through.

“I've got a lot of respect for Craig as a fighter, but when the cage doors are closed my intention is to punish him,” he asserted. With all five of his wins coming inside the distance, it’s not words he can’t back up in the cage. “I’ve really stepped up my game since first couple of pro fights too. I’ve recently moved to North East Top Team Gym, training with Curt Warburton and Davey Grant.”

With a slew of talented training partners now helping him daily, there’s no reason why we won’t see the best Kyle Redfearn to date in the cage. His aggressive style bodes well for the fans, but he was adamant it wouldn’t bode well for his opponent.

“I’m focussing my energies into something positive and with the work rate and commitment I put in, I feel like I deserve it.

“My prediction is a big KO. Watch out Craig.”

Both men are motivated and ready for the ensuing battle. It’s a tussle not to miss in Houghton-Le-Spring on Saturday night.
