Top British middleweight Tom "Kong" Watson has become the latest UFC signing that looks likely to form a part of the UFC On Fuel 5 card in Nottingham, England. UFC officials confirmed the signing today.

Watson (15-4) has strung together three wins since a decision loss to former TUF star Jesse Taylor in Canada. His BAMMA wins over Alex Reid, Murilo Rua and Jack Marshman saw him defend his championship belt with the organisation, but now his contract is up and he'll fight for the world's biggest MMA organisation.

UK fans have been clamouring for the signing for a long time, and in issue one of Your MMA Magazine we noted he was 'ready and waiting' for his shot, and Watson himself said:

"The advantage I've got is that I'm training with guys fighting for championships [in the UFC] and have been for four or five years now. I feel I'm capable of beating almost anybody in my division."

The time was right and now the perfect opportunity has presented itself "Kong" will take his chance in the Octagon.

The Greg Jackson-trained striker has other notable wins over the likes of Matt Horwich and John Maguire, so he has the resume and experience to make an impact, as well as training with some of the best fighters in the world in his fight camps.
