Cullen vs. Reed Rematch At Vision Fight Night: Breakthrough
July-20-12News
John Cullen and Paul Reed battled to a draw when they first met at SFC 3, in a fight that was scheduled for three rounds but went even further given the huge crowd reaction to the close and well-contested battle. After a fourth, the judges still could not separate them but hopefully a second bout will.
Vision matchmaker Rob McCrum just revealed that the rematch will take place at Vision Fight Night: Breakthrough on October 20th in Maryhill, Glasgow. It has been scheduled before but didn't come to fruition, so hopefully in a few months time they will meet again in the cage.
This comes almost exactly two years since the first contest, although it is Reed who has had the most success inbetween.
The Olympians MMA man has fought seven contests, winning five and losing two. He has a win over TUF star and now UFC fighter Hamid Corassani, and his losses have come to top European opposition in KSW and Zone FC.
For Cullen, two losses and a recent draw make up his last two years of combat, and he shares a loss to Martin Svensson with 'Reedy'. Cullen is dropping to bantamweight, but the fervour for this second encounter is so much so that he's willing to take it at 145lbs.
For various reasons this will no doubt be a highly anticipated matchup in Scotland - if it's half as entertaining as last time then it will be worth the price of the ticket alone.
Stay tuned for more updates to the Vision card.
