Liverpool's OMMAC have long been known as one of the top promotions in the UK, with event number seventeen coming up on June 1st, as well as a number of outings under the previous Cage Gladiators banner.
They have played host to many future UFC stars, and are seen as the region's premier event. Now they are looking to increase their exposure and the reach of their fights by airing on Loaded TV, the 'lad' channel deriving from the popular print magazine.
They have struck a deal which will see four OMMAC shows on the channel throughout 2013.
Promoter Chris Zorba yesterday confirmed the deal with Your MMA, stating,
"I'm happy to announce OMMAC will now be televised and shown prime time on the following Friday at 9:00pm. The channel have promised to support OMMAC with trailers and media backing to move the sport and the OMMAC brand forward."
Zorba has previous experience with TV deals, airing Cage Gladiators on ITV 4 back in 2008. Whilst other offers had been made, Zorba put off any deals until he felt the right services were being offered.
"I feel the time is right now for OMMAC to be broadcast on TV and I'm happy with the support Loaded TV are offering to showcase MMA. The channel has the right demographic and already broadcasts boxing, so hopefully UK MMA fans will support it and experience the great quality of OMMAC shows."
The first outing will be OMMAC 17, topped by two title fights: Shay Walsh vs. Andrew Fisher, and Lee Chadwick vs. Denniston Sutherland.
The event will be aired on Loaded TV on Friday June 7, 9:00pm. It will be a two and a half hour slot with many of the show's fighters getting the extra exposure.
Loaded TV is free to all Sky customers, on Channel 200, and is already the home of boxing shows promoted by Frank Maloney.
