Pat Curran added the Bellator 145lbs tournament title to the 155lbs tournament title he won last year, knocking our former Sengoku champion Marlon Sandro via head kick in the second round this weekend.
Following a decision loss to champion Eddie Alvarez after his lightweight success, he dropped to his more natural weightclass of featherweight to seek the gold there. A submission win over Luis Palomino started his campaign off and he defeated the UK's Ronnie Mann by decision in the semi-finals.
Sandro and Curran were engaging in a back and forth battle until the Brazilian left himself unguarded and a high kick separated him from his senses as he tried to weave his way out of trouble. A few more punches sealed the deal, and Curran is now a two-weight tournament champion under the Bellator banner.
